YL-BAE Baltic International Boeing 727-23 (sn 18900 / ln 151) “City of Riga”

This short-body Boeing 727 started a second career in Eastern Europe, when it was operated by Latvian carrier Baltic International Airlines as YL-BAE from July 1994 to April 1996. First flown on 4 June 1965 and delivered to American Airlines as N1995 on 23 June 1965, this Boeing 727-23 (sn 18900 / ln 151) served with American Airlines until 24 June 1990, when it was sold to a leasing company and leased back to American the following year. After a periode of storage in 1992 / 1993, in July 1994 it was leased by Baltic International Airlines and named after the Latvian capital “City of Riga”. Together with YL-BAF (sn 18440 / ln 69) the carrier had two ex American Airlines B727-023 in use, when the lease ended in December 1995 and both aircraft had to return. YL-BAE is reported as scrapped since November 2000.
