Despite the economic embargo against Iran, since 2002 Tehran-based Mahan Air could add ten used A310-300 to its inventory. One of these examples, EP-MHI, is seen while on take-off from Düsseldorf on 31.07.2004. The aircraft made its first flight in January 1990 and was delivered to Turkish Arlines on 26.03.1990 as TC-JDC „Meriç“. In October 2002 Mahan Air purchased it and after re-configured into a two-class 182-seater, the carrier put it into service and replaced the A300 on its route to Düsseldorf. In December 2004 the aircraft received French registration F-OJHI, which allowed Mahan Air to operate this aircraft into the European Union.
