In the 1950s and early 1960s Frankfurt Rhein-Main Airport was a busy place dominated by the sound of propliners as the Douglas Commercial products from DC-3 up to DC-7, Convairs or Lockheed Constellations. With photos from the Axel J. Collection we have the chance for a look back into 1961, when the props had their high-time and the early jetliners waiting on the doorstep, pioneering the new propulsion.
